Learning the Dutch Numbers is very important because its structure is used in every day conversation. The more you master it the more you get closer to mastering the Dutch language. But first we need to know what the role of Numbers is in the structure of the grammar in Dutch.
Dutch cardinal number convey the "how many" they're also known as "counting numbers," because they show quantity.
Grammar Tips:
In Dutch numbers from 1 to 20 are unique and therefore need to be memorized individually.
Numbers from 21 and upwards are formed by using the following pattern: for example 21 can be formed by using 1 + 20 while connecting them. In English we use for example “twenty-one”, in Dutch we reverse this by putting the units first, and by adding a “en” (and) between units and tens.
21 = eenentwintig,
22 = tweeëntwintig, [notice the “ ¨ ” on the third “e“ – it’s put there for correct pronunciation)
23 = drieëntwintig,
24 = vierentwintig,
25 = vijfentwintig
Following this same pattern one can easily form all numbers upto one hundred.
30 = dertig
31 = eenendertig
32 = tweeëndertig
40 = veertig
50 = vijftig
60 = zestig
70 = zeventig
80 = tachtig [81 = eenentachtig]
90 = negentig
100 = honderd

In Dutch one is spelled één to distinguish it from een the indefinite article in Dutch. Up to the numeral fourteen counting in Dutch is straight forward, for example eighteen is achttien (acht + tien) Numerals above the twenty like twenty-eight en is added between the separate numerals - achtentwintig . 11, 12, 13 and 14 ara not eentien but elf, tweetien but twaalf, drietien but dertien, viertien but veertien. The tens are counted bij putting –tig behind the numeral in question. Here again up to fifty th numerals change, so nat tweeting but twintig, not drietig but derti and not viertiig but veertig.
