U.S. census Bureau (美国人口普查局) claimed that America’s population reached 300 million. The U.S. adds 2.8 million people a year, for a growth rate of less than 1 percent. Aging and immigration have pushed America’s population. About 40 percent of the growth comes from immigration. The rest comes from births outnumbering (v. 数目超越) death. It took America 52 years to grow from 100 million in 1915 to 200 million in 1967, but only 39 years to reach 300 million. Only two other countries have bigger populations: China and India.
