To enable the students to identify statements as true or false based on the Reading Passage. Teaching difficulties: To improve students’ ability of getting information through reading. Teaching Procedures: Activity One Check the preview Step One Task 1, read the words on P64-67 in groups. Make sure everybody can. I’ll call your numbers to check. Step Two Task 2, Read the sentences loudly and fluently. Then I’ll ask some of you to show your beautiful English and you can get points for your group. Activity Two Pre-reading T: You know there are a lot of new words in the sentences , let me see if you understand them well. Now, the first one, read together. Choose the correct explanation. Activity Three While-reading Step One Read the whole passage and find the information quickly. Step Two Let’s listen to the first programme, Sports world and then answer the questions. Step Three Now let’s come to the second one. Watch a video carefully and then tell me who we can see in the video. What will they do or what have they done? Read the passage again and complete the sentences. Step Four Next will be a quite horrible one. Read loudly and ask and answer questions. Step Five Oh, it is horrible but don’t be afraid, it’s not true, next one will be a real one. It’s a documentary about tigers. Read quickly and do true or false. Activity Four Post-reading Step One T: Just now, we read about different types of TV programmes. They are sport, shows, films and documentaries. Now Millie is thinking about which to watch. Can you help her remember all the information? You can read your books if necessary. Step Two Now, can you recommend the best TV programmes for Millie and her classmates? Step Three Suppose you have time to watch TV on Saturday and you can only watch the four progrmmes, which one(s) will you choose? Why? Step Four T: Oh, different people may have different choices. Remember not to be a couch potato. No matter what kind of TV programme is your favourite, remember, spending too much time watching TV is harmful to your mind and body! Activity Five Homework: 1. Read and recite the passage. 2. Prepare for the language points. |
